This
project was focused on the restoration of an older home
that was more than distressed. It had been neglected for
decades and was in a very poor state of repair. When a
house has been so poorly maintained it is hard to know
exactly what you are going to find when you start
opening walls and exposing joists.
As
expected we needed to do some shoring and bracing in
order to accommodate the new kitchen floor plan and
bathroom design.
After
opening some walls to create a more functional kitchen
and liveable dining and lounge area we suggested that
the ceiling be vaulted and a skylight be added in the
dining area.
The
results were excellent. We also restored the wooden
floors, added tile to the bathroom and updated all the
major mechanicals. The result is a very comfortable,
functional and liveable house for the next century.
